It’s not that I’m stressed about it, not really. It’s not taking forever, the builders are working hard. I have a microwave and a fridge and running water. These are first world luxuries, even I know that. It’s okay, and more: soon it will be better than okay. Soon it will be beautiful.
It’s only a week. It’s just that a week is a long time when the room you spend most of your waking time in, the room you eat in, pray in, read in, write in, chat in and dream in is gone. I feel a bit homeless even in my own home.
It’s gonna be good. It’s gonna be beautiful. It’s gonna be amazing and I’m gonna love it.
And I’ll keep telling myself these things because, to tell you the truth, it’s actually really stressful.
Hang in there, Megan. I found the bathroom an equally good place to pray. š
Ah yes. Miracles happen in the bathroom. Mine is full of cabinetry though š¦
Going out for the day. When I come back there may even be miracles in my kitchen š
And even after many, many remodels I still believe that it can be contained to one or maybe two rooms. Silly woman that I am. And if all else fails, we run away. You go for it, woman.
One, maybe two rooms. Yeah.
Yeah. š
It will get there, and then you will wonder what all the stress was about, after all it was only a week! In the meantime long walk, catch up with friends for coffee and long lunch away from the chaos, when you get home you can be surprised at how much more is put together š
I concur with Tanya!
Thanks guys! Wish my coffee and long lunch could have included you two š
Tanya I CANNOT BELIEVE you do this so much!! Have I ever told you that you’re amazing? You are amazing.
Homeless in your own home … yes, I get that. Hugs to you for these few days of stress! XXOO
Thanks Amanda, I needed that. Thanks for your understanding.
It will all be worth it. It took us nearly 4 weeks when we did our kitchen and more than once I was close to tears, love it now though. The bathroom was worse we had builders in to do that, hated having it done and don’t really like it now it’s finished. shhh. don’t tell hubby š
FOUR WEEKS!! I know, I know. I’ve got it easy really (I say this as I’m sitting in my study, squashed next to my freezer and microwave). Yeah, I can imagine bathrooms being much MUCH worse…we only have one, so no back-up toliet or anything. Gosh.
Ouch! Not good that you don’t like it now it’s done…it’s okay, I won’t tell š
we only have one bathroom to, it became very unconformable at times š
It’s kind of like moving, isn’t it? We’re such nesting creatures. It’s hard and you’re not a brat to think so. Soon, soon it will be perfect. I am tired and was going to sign off, but then I saw your name and I had to come see. Really enjoy your blog and your gentle approach to the world.
Oh Margaret, it is totally like moving! For the second time in a month…grrr. Putting the carpet down felt like moving too. You’re right, we are nesting creatures. I need to remind myself of this.
And thank you, thank you, thank you for your kind words about my blog! Glad you stopped by š
Renovations are certainly stressful, but it’ll be worth it! A renovated kitchen can significantly increase the value of your home. Good luck!
